Reflecting on the learning from the core course on disability-inclusive social protection, I’m reminded how central these efforts are to the goals of the upcoming World Summit for Social Development #WSSD— to alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and promote social inclusion. Expanding and strengthening social protection for children with disabilities is essential if we are to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive, and to reduce the high rates of poverty still faced by families raising children with disabilities.
🌍 As development partners gather in Doha this week for the Second World Summit on Social Development #SocialSummit2025, the global spotlight turns to advancing social inclusion and resilience. Listen to Pamela Dale, Regional Advisor, Social Policy and Economic Analysis for UNICEF Europe & Central Asia, on why social protection systems must be designed for every child — renewing the #2030Agenda’s core promise to leave no one behind. At our recent Vienna Development Knowledge Center event, we explored how disability-inclusive social protection and integrated long-term care systems are essential to achieving these shared goals. As discussions in Doha unfold, these priorities remind us that social development is not just about economic growth — it’s about dignity, equity, and shared responsibility. #WSSD #WSSD2 #SocialDevelopment #SocialJustice #DisabilityInclusion #SocialProtection #LongTermCare #DohaSummit #LeaveNoOneBehind #InclusiveGrowth #EuropeCentralAsia #HumanCapital #ViennaDevelopment #KnowledgeToAction #VDKC #TheWorldBank #UNICEF | United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs | Pamela Dale | Gopal Mitra | Jenn Yablonski | Emcet O.
